CARPRO Reset Review: Shampoo Choice for a Coated-Car Routine

Published
Car-shampoo bottle, wash mitt and bucket in a bright wash bay

CARPRO Reset is a wash-and-rinse shampoo to consider when your coating’s maintenance instructions permit it and you can provide the required water and clean wash tools. It does not apply a ceramic coating. Decide whether you need routine cleaning, a separate contaminant treatment, or added protection before treating Reset as the answer to every coated-car care problem.

Our documented selection

Top 6 best car wash products by use case

These products are ordered for the stated use cases. The list is documentary: it does not report measured performance or rank the whole market. Check the exact formula, surface and received directions before choosing.

How this shortlist is ordered

Order for this page: conventional rinse-based shampoos before coating-specific and no-final-rinse branches.

01Documented task fit

Best for a conventional shampoo gap when rinse water and wash supplies are ready

Meguiar's Gold Class Car Wash G7164, 64 oz

Gold Class G7164 fills a conventional shampoo gap when rinse water, suitable wash tools and drying supplies are available. It does not add wax or a ceramic coating. Keep bucket directions separate from foam-equipment guidance.

Why this position: First for a conventional shampoo gap with rinse water and wash supplies already available. Its bucket process stays separate from foam-equipment guidance.

Check before choosing: Keep bucket and foam-equipment guidance distinct; the shampoo does not supply wax, coating, wash media or drying towels.

02Documented task fit

Best for a conventional rinse-based maintenance wash with the original formula

Chemical Guys Mr. Pink Original CWS_402_16, 16 oz

Original Mr. Pink CWS_402_16 fits a conventional maintenance wash with rinse water, a wash mitt and drying supplies. Use the original bottle's published bucket process; Foam Party is a separate product whose wax claims do not establish this formula's role.

Why this position: Second as another conventional maintenance shampoo with the exact Original formula identified. Foam Party and neighbouring wax claims do not resolve this bottle's instructions.

Check before choosing: Original Mr. Pink and Foam Party are different formulas; match CWS_402_16 and the actual bottle's process.

Griot’s Garage Car Wash, 16 oz bottle.

03Documented task fit

Best for a conventional wash before assessing light contamination

Griot's Garage Car Wash 11102, 16 oz

Griot's identifies 11102 as its Car Wash. The existing bird-dropping guide uses this shampoo route before judging whether a remaining spot needs a different treatment.

Why this position: Third as a separately identified conventional shampoo before reassessing remaining contamination. Its washing role does not establish removal of hardened sap or etching.

Check before choosing: A shampoo choice is not proof of removal of hardened sap or etched paint; use the actual dilution, rinsing and finish-care instructions.

04Documented task fit

Best for a conventional rinse-based maintenance wash when fragrance is acceptable

Adam's Car Wash Shampoo, 16 oz

Adam's lists a 16 oz Car Wash Shampoo and describes a pH-neutral maintenance-wash formula. The page identifies a blue color and wildberry fragrance, useful distinctions when choosing a shampoo rather than a rinseless product or protection step.

Why this position: Fourth for the conventional-wash branch when the named wildberry fragrance is acceptable. The maker's pH-neutral description is not universal vehicle permission.

Check before choosing: The maker's broad protection and sunlight claims are not universal vehicle permission or a scratch-free result. Follow the actual wash setup, bottle directions and finish-care requirements; do not borrow ONR's no-final-rinse workflow.

05Documented task fit

Best for a wash-and-rinse shampoo where the coating's care rules permit it

CARPRO Reset Car Wash Shampoo

Reset serves wash-and-rinse cleaning where the existing coating's care instructions permit it. Provide the required water and clean wash tools. It does not apply a coating or replace a separately identified contaminant-removal or protection task.

Why this position: Fifth for a coating-maintenance wash only where the existing finish permits this shampoo. The organic-wax and polymer-sealant warning narrows that fit.

Check before choosing: Check the US warning about organic waxes and polymer sealants; Reset is cleaning, not a new ceramic coating.

Optimum No Rinse Version 6, 32 oz bottle. Separate package size; not three units.

06Documented task fit

Best for a water-and-towel wash routine without a final hose rinse

Optimum No Rinse Wash & Shine Version 6

No Rinse Wash & Shine Version 6 fits routine washing with water, clean wash media and drying towels but no final hose rinse. Match Wash & Shine rather than Wash & Wax or a kit with a separate wax. Heavy abrasive soil can require pre-cleaning at suitable facilities.

Why this position: Sixth as the distinct Version 6 rinseless route without a final hose rinse. It is not ranked as a conventional shampoo substitute for every soil level; water, clean media and an abrasive-soil plan are still required.

Check before choosing: Match Wash & Shine Version 6 rather than Wash & Wax; abrasive soil can require a different pre-cleaning plan.

What job does Reset perform?

CARPRO describes Reset as a shampoo developed for nanotechnology sealants and coatings, including its CQUARTZ range. The global page specifies pH-neutral behavior in solution and no gloss enhancers. Those are published product characteristics; Hot Car Care has not measured cleaning strength, lubrication, or coating lifespan.

Washing removes ordinary dirt; adding protection requires a separate product and permission. The product’s name does not make it a ceramic coating, a polish, or a guarantee that a tired coating will recover its original performance. Read CARPRO’s Reset description

The US distributor warns that Reset may degrade organic waxes and polymer sealants. A car described casually as “protected” therefore needs a more exact check: identify what is actually on the panels and read its permitted maintenance methods.

Which bottle or configuration should you match?

The current US product page identifies Reset under SKU CP-RESET and offers 500 ml, 1000 ml, and one-gallon selections, with a separate 50 ml sample linked. Optional dispensing accessories are separate selections. This identifies the distributor’s range; it does not verify the bottle size, accessory, seller, or stock of an Amazon result.

For an owner who already has suitable buckets, clean wash media, and drying equipment, a shampoo bottle can fill a specific gap. Choose a kit only if its contents supply items you need. Compare the selected quantity and actual contents, rather than counting product photographs as included supplies.

Keep bucket and foam-cannon instructions separate

Published instructions have different method scopes
Source and methodPublished amountWhat to verify
CARPRO global: bucket wash1:500; 40 ml per 20 liters of water. The page also gives 1.35 fl oz per 5 gallons.Use the applicable current label; the printed examples are not a foam-bottle recipe.
US distributor: bucket washApproximately 1 fl oz in 3–4 US gallons of waterMeasure the actual water volume and follow these US directions as a complete method.
US distributor: foam-cannon mixture1:9This is the foam-cannon bottle mixture, not the bucket dilution or a stated final concentration on the car.

CARPRO global instructs washing with a wool mitt and thoroughly rinsing with water. For the US bucket method:

  1. Pre-rinse with free-flowing water to remove loose debris.
  2. Wash from the top down, out of direct sunlight, periodically rinsing the permitted mitt or sponge in a second bucket of clear water.
  3. Keep shampoo from drying on the surface, then rinse thoroughly with free-flowing water.
  4. Dry with suitable equipment, following the finish’s care instructions.

The US page’s separate foam-cannon mixture does not establish a no-contact or no-rinse wash. Follow the complete directions for the method and equipment you select.

  • Keep the product away from children.
  • Do not ingest it.
  • Wear protective gloves when sensitive skin or a pre-existing skin condition could be affected.

The precautions come from the US product instructions.

The global page prints metric and US examples as rounded guidance, not exact unit conversions. Keep each source’s bucket quantities separate. Do not average them into a new recipe or use the stronger foam-bottle amount in a bucket. If the instructions on your actual package differ or do not explain your equipment, resolve the method with the responsible supplier before mixing. Read the US method and precautions

A foam cannon is optional for the described bucket process. Choose it for your equipment and method; foam alone does not prove better cleaning. If your location cannot supply pre-rinse and final rinse water, a different documented wash method is needed; see the rinseless setup checks.

To choose a rinseless formula, read the ONR Wash & Shine V6 review. Heavy abrasive soil still needs appropriate preparation before contact washing.

Check the coating before the first shampoo wash

Paint, film, textured trim and clear plastic samples beside a plain bottle and applicator.
Separate exterior material samples show the difference between paint, protective film, textured trim and clear plastic before choosing a product.

Record the exact coating, when it was applied, and its first permitted detergent wash. If the application date or product is unknown, ask the installer instead of assigning a generic waiting period to all ceramic-coated cars.

For the specific US CQUARTZ UK 3.0 50 ml kit with Reload 2.0, the distributor says to avoid detergents and chemicals for five days after application. Check its initial dry-period guidance separately. These are that kit’s directions, not a universal Reset waiting time or permission for a different coating. Check the exact US kit’s aftercare

The distributor’s broader CQUARTZ maintenance page recommends regular washing with Reset. It also contains a soap-wash exception for bug removal during the initial five-day period; the exact UK kit page states its detergent restriction without that exception. Do not use broader family guidance to override the exact kit’s restriction. Ask the installer or distributor how to address urgent contamination while the coating cures.

Keep these decisions in the coating care record. It separates the first wash from routine maintenance and an optional added layer, so an approval for one task does not silently authorize the next.

When is shampoo only part of the job?

Microfibers, applicators, gloves and plain treatment bottles prepared beside a car.
A tidy preparation station keeps towels, applicators and protective gloves separate beside the bottles.

The CQUARTZ maintenance guidance lists ordinary Reset washing separately from iron-contaminant treatment and optional toppers. That distinction prevents a shampoo purchase from becoming a promise to remove every deposit or replace protection. Read the CQUARTZ maintenance categories

Questions before buying

A single trigger bottle and an open car-care kit sit separately beside a microfiber towel and blank checklist card.

Can I use Reset as a rinseless wash?

The reviewed instructions require thorough water rinsing. They do not establish a rinseless use; choose a formula with a documented rinseless method when that is the job.

Do I need a foam cannon?

No foam cannon is required by the described bucket method. If you choose one, keep its mixture and equipment instructions separate from the bucket instructions.

Will it preserve every wax or sealant?

The US distributor warns that it may degrade organic waxes and polymer sealants. Identify the protection product and its maintenance requirements before choosing Reset for that surface.

Must I add a topper after each wash?

The CQUARTZ guidance treats toppers as an optional separate task. Follow the exact coating and topper instructions rather than adding another layer as an automatic Reset step.
