Foam Cannon vs. Foam Gun: Which Fits Your Washing Setup?

Choose by the documented washing setup
Choose a foaming attachment by the water supply it accepts. A garden-hose gun can add foam without a pressure washer; a pressure-washer cannon needs a compatible washer and connection. Some devices support both modes. If your existing washing method already works, you may need neither.
This comparison checks published equipment requirements, not cleaning performance. Hot Car Care has not measured foam thickness, scratch prevention, water use, or washing time. Amazon buttons may earn the site a commission; search results do not identify a verified offer.
Start With the Water Supply You Have
Start with the hose or pressure washer already available, then decide whether a foaming step is useful. Buying a washer is a separate decision from choosing an attachment.

A hose-only setup can support a device documented for that supply, such as the TORQ Foam Blaster 6 Pro. It does not make a pressure-washer-only cannon compatible. If you already own a washer, identify the exact washer, spray gun, and coupler before selecting a cannon. A shared brand name is not a connection specification.
Keep a suitable bucket-wash routine when it already covers the job. Foam equipment is optional for the bucket methods in our car wash soap comparison; adding it does not remove those methods’ rinse and drying steps.
Compare the Operating Modes, Not Just the Names
Compare the documented mode rather than treating “gun” and “cannon” as guarantees. Armor All calls its dual-mode device a cannon even though it also accepts a garden hose.
Some named foam cannons also have a documented garden-hose mode. Check the Armor All 2-in-1 modes.

| Operating mode | Water source | Equipment and connection checks | What remains to wash, rinse, and dry | When not to choose it |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Garden-hose foam gun; TORQ 6 Pro example | Garden hose; no pressure washer required | Exact Pro device, hose connection, supplied quick-release parts, shampoo directions | The shampoo’s complete permitted wash, rinse, and drying process | You need a pressure-washer attachment, or the hose/offer match is unresolved |
| Pressure-washer cannon; PF22.2 example | Compatible pressure washer | Exact kit, coupler, pressure and flow together, permitted temperature, orifice, unloader restrictions | Vehicle and shampoo wash steps; foaming alone does not establish a complete wash | Any required operating or connection condition is unresolved or excluded |
| Documented dual-mode device; Armor All 2-in-1 example | One selected input: hose or pressure washer | The selected mode’s adapter, selector position, and separate supply requirements | The published method includes hand washing, water rinsing, and immediate drying | You expect simultaneous inputs or assume that both modes have identical requirements |
The examples show which setup to check; they do not rank foam appearance or cleaning power.

Check the Connection and Operating Requirements
Match the physical connection and the operating conditions separately. A fitting that locks in place does not prove that a washer supplies the right pressure and flow for the selected configuration.
A pressure-washer setup still needs a version and fitting check. Check the MJJC S V3.0 requirements.

For Armor All’s pressure-washer mode, the manufacturer gives 500–3,500 PSI and 1.4–5.3 GPM for optimal results. Its hose mode instead specifies standard US hose thread and 40 PSI or more for optimal results. The hose number is not a pressure-washer minimum. Neither set of figures specifies safe jet pressure on your car’s paint, film, trim, or seals.
Veloci’s selected PF22.2 kit, part 14.7022, lists 1,100–5,000 PSI, 1.4–5.3 GPM, and a maximum of 140°F. It also says the two included orifices do not cover every combination in that range and excludes flow-sensing unloaders. Some residential couplers require a different documented plug. Do not turn a broad range or a one-quarter-inch label into universal compatibility.
Use the washer, attachment, and vehicle instructions together. If an exact fit, flow, or unloader requirement remains unclear, verify it with the responsible equipment supplier before buying. Do not modify a fitting or safety mechanism to force a match, or handle a connection while pressurized.

What Else Will You Still Need?
Plan the whole washing method before adding an attachment. You still need a permitted shampoo and the water, contact tools, and drying supplies its directions require.

Armor All’s documented sequence continues after foaming with a mitt or sponge, a water rinse, and immediate drying. That method is evidence against treating this device’s foam step as a complete touchless wash. Choose contact tools permitted by the vehicle and finish; the attachment does not approve every mitt or brush.
Check shampoo and equipment preparation together. Reservoir capacity, the amount of water added to the bottle, and the final mixture leaving the nozzle are separate quantities. A bucket dilution is not automatically a reservoir recipe. If the instructions do not establish one of those values, leave it unresolved rather than calculating it from bottle size alone.
Inventory usable supplies before buying a bundle. Confirm included shampoo or towels on the selected offer; a photo of accessories does not prove that they come with the device.
Which Setup Should You Choose?
Choose the mode whose documented requirements you can meet, or keep the equipment you already use. Foam thickness is not the deciding evidence in this comparison.
A broad pressure rating does not resolve every flow, orifice, or coupler combination. Check the PF22.2 kit and washer fit.
A garden-hose option is a different purchase from a pressure-washer accessory. Review the garden-hose Foam Blaster 6 Pro.

Hose available, no washer planned: the TORQ Foam Blaster 6 Pro is a relevant hose-operated candidate. Check the exact Pro version, connector, and actual contents. Its adjustable mixture does not establish a fixed concentration on the car.

A compatible washer already available: choose a pressure-washer configuration only after checking its complete fit requirements. PF22.2’s orifice and unloader limits show why a PSI maximum alone cannot settle this choice. If the setup is unverified, pause before improvising an adapter or buying by brand.
You want documented hose and washer options: consider Armor All 2-in-1 only when the required parts and supply for your selected mode are confirmed. The two inputs are alternatives; dual-mode does not mean simultaneous use.

Questions Before Buying Foam Equipment
Resolve naming and evidence questions before treating an attachment as an upgrade.

Does every foam cannon require a pressure washer?
No. The Armor All 2-in-1 is a documented exception with a separate hose mode. Check the actual input instructions instead of relying on the product name.
Will a one-quarter-inch connector fit every pressure washer?
No universal fit is established by that nominal size. The PF22.2 catalogue identifies exceptions for some couplers, and a changed spray gun can change the connection. Verify the actual mating parts and their ratings.
Does thicker foam mean better cleaning?
This comparison contains no controlled cleaning test. Foam appearance cannot establish a cleaning winner, scratch-free result, or a reduced need for contact washing here.
Do I need either attachment if my current method works?
No purchase is required merely to add a foaming stage. Keep a method that fits the vehicle, finish, water supply, and shampoo instructions unless there is a specific equipment gap to solve.
Sources and Review Scope
Hot Car Care reviewed the current Chemical Guys Pro description, Armor All’s mode-specific use directions, and Veloci’s selected PF22.2 14.7022 catalogue on October 19, 2026. Published requirements support conditional setup choices; manufacturer marketing is not an independent result. Check the current supplied instructions before use.

The comparison does not rank foam output, cleaning, water consumption, or time saved. It does not approve a pressure setting for every car or transfer instructions between similar models. Exact offers and any unresolved fit conditions still need verification.
